" In Vitro, takes on a new direction in terms of energy and style. Alkadhi’s new canvases are more somber and apocalyptic in nature. He has created mesmerizing movement throughout the works reflecting the process of systematic destruction that the Middle East has undergone in recent years. Layering depictions of machinery, limbs, skeletons, and fetuses, Alkadhi references not only the fragmented struggles taking place throughout Middle East—from Egypt’s volatile political shifts to the ongoing bloody civil strife in Syria, but also of the fragile and uncertain future that lies ahead for the region. The figures and objects appear to be mobilizing into a horrific oblivion in which the remnants of a glorious past seem to exist only in memory. His subtle use of frigidly fluid imagery blends both the harsh realities and the apparent despair of the current situation in the Middle East with the hope for a better future that lies ahead."
