In this series, commentary on the politics of Middle Eastern oil is buried under layers of colorful and decorative designs and motifs. These motifs are inspired by Islamic art throughout its history. Nodes to the arts of Mughal India, Qajar and Safavid Iran, Ottoman Turkey, Andalusia and more, are present in these works.
